Spring Wine Tasting – May 13th and 14th
Join us this Friday and Saturday for our weekly tasting.
Mas de Libian, Côtes du Rhone Bout d’Zan Rosé 2015
A biodynamically farmed winery, this rose is a blend of Grenache and Syrah. This is my first year for purchasing this wine and I am very excited as their other wines have been extraordinary!
The Thibon family acquired Mas de Libian in 1670. Today Jean-Pierre, his wife Jacqueline and their 3 daughters, Hélène, Catherine & Cécile and son-in-law Alain, tend the vines and make beautiful wines. They use their horse Nestor to plow the vines which are located on the old terraced land of the Rhône. The soil for their Côtes du Rhônes is clay/limestone with a few pebbles. For the Côtes du Rhône Villages wines the soil is solely made of pebbles about 3 feet deep.

Winery Tasting Notes:
Domaine Charles Baur, Alsace Pinot Gris 2012
The Charles Baur Estate is located in Eguisheim, in the heart of Alsace, 3 miles away from Colmar. It has been in the family since the early 18th century. In 1930, Albert Baur bought the farmhouse that currently houses the facilities of the Charles Baur estate. Today, the Charles Baur Estate covers 17 hectares (42 acres) of vines on the finest slopes of Eguisheim and its immediate vicinity. The vineyard is composed of several plots located on the Grand Cru Brand, Eichberg and Pfersigberg.
In order to produce top quality wines, the yields are kept moderate and all the grapes are hand harvested and sorted. The Baur wines are all from estate fruit. In the cellar, the goal is to produce Alsace Wines which are well balanced, elegant and which bring out the particular qualities of each terroir and each vintage.
The Pinot Gris is full bodied, rich and reveals flavors of apricots, yellow peaches and white flowers. On the palate, there is a remarkable balance and a great harmony between the concentration and the freshness. This Pinot Gris is incredible!

St. Innocent Villages Cuvee Willamette Valley Oregon 2014
St. Innocent Winery was founded in 1988 by owner and winemaker Mark Vlossak. Mark’s interest and education in wine began early – his father was a wine importer and Mark produced sparkling wine in 1985-87. In 1994, he was appointed winemaker at Panther Creek Cellars where he worked for five years before founding St. Innocent.
St. Innocent produces small-lot, handmade wines in the Old World tradition – in other words, wines intended to go with food. The estate vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills is planted to 16 acres planted to Pinot Nor. The winery also works closely with eight different growers, leasing specific blocks of vineyards to produce terroir-specific wines. A new winery at the Zenith Vineyard was completed in time for the 2007 harvest. This 17,500 sq. ft., four story, gravity facility features underground barrel rooms, a temperature controlled crush floor and a 900 sq. ft. tasting room.

Two Ponds, Columbia Valley, Washington Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
Founded in 1984 in the heart of Walla Walla, Waterbrook Winery is widely recognized for producing wines that truly exemplify the outstanding vineyard sources in the Columbia Valley.
They produce four ranges of wine: Reserve, Melange, Value, and Tasting Room and Wine Club Exclusives; the “Two Ponds” wines originally fell into that last category but the line proved so successful that the winery has made them more widely available. This is an elegant Cabernet with subtle flavors of cinnamon and cloves coupled with ripe black cherries; hints of leather and tobacco lead to a toasted oak finish with well-rounded tannins.
Kevin’s Notes: It’s back on the floor of our store because this is truly an outstanding price to quality wine. Awesome wine for the money! It was $12.99, but then we got an offer to buy more at one time for an even better price so here ya’ go!
