Cooper Wine and Spirit tasting Dec 29 and 30th – 5-7PM
J-Y Perard Extravagance Brut Champagne
It was in 1635 that the first winegrower of the Pérard family settled in Cernay-Lès-Reims. Since then, generations of winegrowers have followed one.
A terroir of old vines where Chardonnay reigns
Our lands are characterized by a grape variety dominated over 95% by Chardonnay, a white grape used to make Blanc de Blancs and known for its delicate and floral aromas, as well as for its freshness and length in the mouth. The rest of the estate is occupied by two other grape varieties of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, grapes with black skin and white juice.
Review: Michel WIDEHEM Sommelier – “Its fine and continuous effervescence coats a golden color with greenish reflections. Scents of quince paste caress the nose with hints of brioche. Fine and balanced mouth until the slightly saline finish all in freshness, my favorite!” Cooper’s Price $49.99 Mix & Match 3 btls $44.99/btl
L’Ecole No 41 Chenin Blanc Old Vines, Yakima Valley, WA
L’Ecole N° 41 is a third generation family-owned, artisan winery located in the historic Frenchtown School depicted on our label. Founded in 1983, we were the third winery established in the Walla Walla Valley.
L’Ecole is one of the most honored wineries in Washington State and has garnered national and international accolades over the years for producing superior quality wines. We are proud to be recognized by Wine & Spirits Magazine as a Top 100 Winery of the Year fifteen times.
Winery Tasting Notes: With distinctive aromatics, spanning from white floral to pink peppercorn, this dry Chenin is vivid and lively. In the mouth, flavors burst forward with magnolia, Meyer lemon skin, and citrus custard, offset by a remarkable note of salinity. The wine is snappy and interesting, carrying through to a flavorful and persistent finish
Kevin’s Notes: I absolutely adore the complexity of flavor. It’s a tantalizing wine with expressive stone fruit and the acidity is spot on perfect. We sold out the last time we tasted this. Cooper’s Price $21.99 Mix & Match 3 btls $19.79
Chateau Beaumont Haut-Medoc, Bordeaux 2020
The blend for the 2020 vintage is 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot
Critic Tasting Note: “On the nose it is aromatic and offers a small concentration, a fine power, a little freshness. It reveals notes of wild blackcurrant, boysenberry and more lightly aromatic herbs associated with touches of licorice, crushed raspberry. On the palate is fruity and offers juiciness, minerality. This wine expresses notes of pulpy wild blackcurrant, crushed blackberry and more slightly fleshy blue plum associated with touches of raspberry, violet, lilac as well as hints of chocolate, sweet blond tobacco and sweet spices. The tannins are well developed.” Cooper’s Price $26.99 Mix & Match 3 btls $24.29
Rombauer California Zinfandel
In 1972, when Koerner and Joan Rombauer moved their two children, two horses and five dogs to Napa Valley, they were already well acquainted with the natural relationship between food and wine. Koerner’s great aunt Irma Rombauer wrote the internationally renowned cookbook, The Joy of Cooking, and his German ancestors had deep roots in the winegrowing region of Rheingau.
Koerner and Joan established Rombauer Vineyards in 1980, and in 1984 they released their first California-style Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon wines. Four decades later–and still family owned–the winery has become widely acclaimed for its distinctive, fruit-driven expressions.
Winery Tasting Notes – The wine bursts with bright fruit aromas of cherry and red plum, with notes of vanilla, holiday spices, and lavender all jumping out on the nose. Plum flavors continue to the palate, joined by layers of raspberry jam, mocha, clove, and white pepper. The mid-palate is soft and creamy, framed by fine tannins and ending with a long, lush finish that will leave you wanting another sip. Cooper’s Price $36.99 Mix & Match 3btls $33.29/btl
