Domaine Thévenet et fils (Jean-Claude), Mâcon-Pierreclos Blanc 2020
This is the workhorse wine of the Domaine both for the Thevenet family and for us. The grapes for this cuvée are sourced from four separate parcels within Pierreclos: “Margots”, “Le Chateau”, “Les Grands Buys” and “La Bucherate”. The average age of the vines is forty-five (45) years. The wine is aged in cuve in contact with the fine lees but without any exposure to oak. ORGANIC! They produce only 2000 cases annually.
Kevin’s Notes: Over the past weeks we have been tasting Chardonnay’s from this appellation with amazing success. Many of you have loved the wines from the different villages of Macon in southern Burgundy and this should be no different. Wonderful aromas and flavors of apple, spicy Asian pears coupled with bright acidity while carrying a long finish!

Clos Sainte Magdeleine, Côtes de Provence Rosé 2020
The ancient fishing village of Cassis has seen many visitors over the millennia. The Phoenicians first arrived in the sixth century B.C., and with them came viticultural savvy. The Romans later made their way here, as well as their Barbarian successors, followed by the medieval Counts of Les Baux.
The vineyards of Clos Sainte Magdeleine are particularly stunning. They jut out on a private cape to meet majestic limestone cliffs, poised spectacularly above the sparkling, azure Mediterranean.
Only a handful of vignerons today are fortunate enough to produce wine in Cassis. The Sack-Zafiropulos family has been making wine here for four generations and has continued to craft wines of grace and finesse. They’ve been making ORGANIC WINE for five years.
Kevin’s Notes – the red grapes used for this rose blend are 35% Grenache, 35% Cinsault, 20% Mourvèdre, 10% Syrah. This is considered one of the greatest Provence roses. We were able to buy this wine at a significant discount because it’s a 2020 vintage vs. 2021, and it’s outstanding!

Ver Sacrum Barrancas Garnacha (Grenache), Argentina
Eduardo Soler and two friends started Ver Sacrum in 2012 with the concept of growing and vinifying Rhone Varietals. They don’t make Malbec. Their winemaking ethos focuses on fresh, low alcohol, lighter skin contact, native yeast, honest, and easy drinking wines. All grapes are hand harvested and most are foot crushed as they believe in minimum intervention in the vineyards and winery with no corrections, filtration, or pump overs. ORGANIC-BIODYNAMIC
Winemaker Tasting Notes: The nose is vibrant showing red cherry, raspberry, sage, thyme, and black pepper that leads into a light mid palate with hints of cinnamon, brown sugar, and a sprinkle of lemon balm. A light wine with a bright finish and lingering red fruit.
Kevin’s Notes – It’s a wonderful wine so bought all I could (4 cases), but unfortunately, when it’s gone, it’s gone.

Di Majo Norante, Aglianico Del Molise Contado Riserva
The Di Majo Norante winery sits on the estate of the Marquis Norante of Santa Cristina in the region of Molise, along the Adriatic Sea between Puglia and Abruzzo. The cultivation of vines in this area dates back to 500 BC, when the region was inhabited by two pre-Roman civilizations.
Wine Education – Aglianico is a red wine grape variety native to southern Italy. It is known to produce full-bodied red wines that show musky berry flavors with firm tannins and good aging potential. Even when grown in hot climates, Aglianico is capable of retaining high levels of acidity, which makes it a particularly useful vine in the Mediterranean.
Kevin’s Notes – Explosive nose of blackberry and other dark fruit, subtle oak with very dark purple coloring – almost black. The mouthfeel is big, bold with expressive black fruit, spice, and licorice. Amazing balance for such a big wine between the fruit, tannins, and texture. I’ve always loved this grape and this wine shows me why! This is a no brainer.
