Domaine Miolanne, Volcane Rosé 2016 – Jean-Baptise Deroche, with a BTS in viticulture and  oenology (this training focuses largely on the history of wine, terroir, the manufacturing process and oenology which is a form of specialized chemistry and biology) from the University of Bordeaux and his wife Laura visited Auvergare ne while on vacation tasting wines and visiting wineries. Impressed by the quality of the wines, they learned about the terroir and they visited this Domaine. Discovering the Domaine had no successors, Jean-Baptiste and Laure bought the Domaine.

The volcanic and clay-limestone soils give the wines a distinctive character.  The vineyards of Neschers are the only ones, along with Vesuvius, to have this mix of soils. Currently 6 of the 17 hectares of the Domaine are planted with 50 % Pinot Noir and 50% Gamay.  While considered part of the Loire valley, their vineyards are actually closer to Burgundy.

Kevin’s Notes:  This dry Rose is mind-blowing to the palate and the rest of your senses! I’m not going to tell you anything more except the regular price is $21.99 – Cooper’s Price $14.99

Flying Horse Napa Valley Chardonnay 2012

Kevin’s Notes and FYI:  Many of you already know our Mission Statement, but if you don’t mind, let me remind you.  Our mission is search and buy outstanding adult beverages that taste well through above their price while educating our customers, as we believe knowledge is empowerment.

This wine is a great example of our mission.  Most consumers drink Chardonnays too early because we buy most of our wines on an “as need basis”.  The regular price on this wine is around $40 a bottle, and Chardonnays at his price point and higher can be aged between 5-10 years and many of them beyond.  Great French white burgundies are Chardonnay, and many of them can age 30-50 years! As great Chardonnay ages the wine becomes more complex and luscious as the flavors of the barrel aging, the fruit and acidity meld together from bottle aging. This Chardonnay has exotic stone fruit flavors with a light nutty character on the finish leaving you to wonder, “Why don’t I begin aging some great Chardonnays?”

Regular Price $40 – Cooper’s Price $17.99 Very Limited Availability – 38 btls

Bodegas Valentin Bianchi “Sensual” MalbecEstablished in 1928, Bodegas Valentin Bianchi is one of the oldest and most important wineries in South America. Located in Mendoza, Argentina, the winery has become a symbol of tradition, nobility and quality. Today, Don Valentin Bianchi’s three grandsons run the winery. The Sensual portfolio is 100% estate wine and sourced from vineyards situated at around 2,493 feet above sea level in Rama Caida, San Rafael, Mendoza. Rama Caida is one of the coolest areas in San Raphael and its soils are a sandy calcareous composition of alluvial origins. At harvest, the grapes are hand harvested and sorted twice before crushing and the wines are fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.

Kevin’s Notes:  I love this wine because it’s unpretentious.   While the grapes are 100% estate fruit (rare for Argentinian Malbec), it’s fermented in stainless steel with minimal oak giving us the pure satisfaction of the fruit without little to no oak influence.  The wine is fresh and lively.  Regular Price $12.99 – Cooper’s Price $10.99

Ultraviolet Cabernet from Napa Valley 2016 – 2016 marks the seventh vintage of Ultraviolet Cabernet Sauvingnon, by winemaker Samantha Sheenhan of POE and Mommenpop. Samantha’s Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays have always been inspired by the wines of France, thus her California Cabernet project deserves a fitting title. Ultraviolet is a homage to the California climate where Sam Grew up, and a pure expression of fruit ripened under the California Sun.

Winemaker Notes:  Ripe notes of blueberry compote, plums, fresh violet petals and currant, a round mouthfeel with hints of blackberry   bramble, black pepper and Bordeaux-like earthiness, with bright acidity and velvety, persistent tannin.

Blend: 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc  The wine is aged 10 months in 50% new and 50% used French Oak barrels

POE also produces traditional Champagne method sparkling wines, rosé, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and a nouveau from Pinot Noir. Each wine is made in very limited quantities, and sold directly from the winery and to high-end restaurants around the country.  Regular Price $19.99 – Cooper’s Price $16.99
