Here are this weekend’s tasting notes:
Âmevive Wine, Grenache Blanc Santa Barbara County 2021
This wine comes from Buttonwood Vineyard in Los Olivos District AVA. I was attracted to this vineyard because it has a lot of similarities to Ibarra-Young. It’s old, its own-rooted, it has gently sloping alluvial floodplain soils, and it shares the same climate. This vineyard was planted in the early 80s and has been farmed organically for several years.
The juice was sent to tank to settle overnight and then gravity racked to neutral French Oak barrels for fermentation with its native yeast. The wine rested on its fermentation lees until a month before bottling when it was racked together to a stainless-steel tank.
Taste – Delicate, salty, zesty, Refreshing like a spring creek high up in the mountains.

Owen Roe, Pinot Gris Crawford-Beck Vineyard Eola-Amity Hills
Kevin’s Notes: David O’Reilly is the masterful winemaker and personality behind Owen Roe and Sharecropper wines. The Pinot Gris is what he makes the least, however our wholesaler contacted David and secured 7 cases for our store. It is a stunning wine!
Winery Tasting Notes – A wonderfully balanced Pinot Gris that has enough body to counter the acidity, as well as a hint of residual sugar to help round out the finish, starting out with aromas of green apple, lemon pith and raw almond. First taste is a pop of acidity right at the front of the palate that soon transforms into the mid- palate with lingering flavors of white peach and lemon peel.

Viotti Autignan Vino Rosso Dry Brachetto Piedmont, Italy – VERY RARE WINE
SINCE 1969 the Viotti family has cultivated a passion for vines and wine in Castel Rocchero, a small medieval town located between the rolling hills of the Alta Langa Astigiana and Alto Monferrato. An area dedicated to monoculture of the vine, guardian of traditions and a rich food and wine culture. With passion and dedication Bianca Viotti and her father Guido carry on the family tradition. From the first bottle of wine in 1969 to today, a story to be told. The winery practices organic growing and winemaking
PHILOSOPHY – Our company has always selected the grapes with care and with the utmost respect for the environment by practicing “integrated pest management” (crop protection practice).
Kevin’s Notes – THIS WINE IS A BLAST!!!! The grape is Brachetto and it can either produce dry wine such as this or sweet sparkling wines (which happen to sell as well). The nose is magnificent with dense bright black fruit, very floral with spice and a hint of musk. The flavor correlates directly with the aromatics. You think it will be sweet, but it’s dry with persistent long-lasting flavors. I gave this a 9+ out of 10 !!!!

No Fine Print, Cabernet Sauvignon California 2019
The team has worked in concert with winemaker Trevor Sheehan, who has long possessed critical vineyard relationships in Lake County and Mendocino. This versatile, energetic California Cabernet is composed of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from Lake County, 10% Syrah from Mendocino, and 10% Petite Sirah from the Clear Lake AVA. While the Cabernet Sauvignon was raised for one year in neutral French oak, the Syrah and Petite Sirah were vinified separately in stainless steel.
Taste – Blackberry/blueberry, spice, eucalyptus and cigar box. Big Cabernet with plenty of intensity of fruit coupled with tannins a long finish. Go home and get out the stinky cheese and ribeyes
Philosophy – A passion project between friends, No Fine Print was inspired by the inherently convivial nature of wine. As the name implies, No Fine Print breaks down the barriers between esoteric sommelier jargon and those who simply appreciate and want to enjoy wine while not needing to possess formal training.
