Pierre Rougon, Tavel Rosé

Kevin’s Notes:  All wine gets their color from the skins of the grapes during the pressing, maceration and fermentation.  All roses are primarily made from dark skinned grapes so to be rose the juice sees very little skin contact.  Almost all roses are fermented dry and should not be confused with the taste profile our domestic White Zinfandel.  Tavel roses are some of the richest roses in the world and are a perfect companion with salads, ham, Asian foods, and curry.

Golden Monterrey Chardonnay

Taste:  Classic tropical and stone fruit aromas with notes of lemon zest, orange blossom, and vanilla cream. In the glass, there is a sophisticated balance of fruit, mineral, oak, and acid.

Kevin’s Notes:  This is a great find!  Many of the brand wines at this price will use additives to help create the essence of vanilla, buttery, and oaky flavors.  This is not the case here as all of the grapes come from Monterey, a place that creates this taste profile naturally.

  Reeve ‘Ya Moon’ Pinot Noir

Kevin’s Notes:  About a month ago, I had an amazing visit with the owner/winemaker for Reeve Winery.  We tasted through his wines and bought three of them, and we asked if we could buy 10 cases of this wine.  They said, we could NOT buy 10 cases because only 12 cases were available for Colorado, but they let us buy 3 cases.

The last time we tasted a carbonic macerated Pinot, we sold out that weekend!

 Manifesto Lodi Zinfandel 2015

2015 marks the fourth consecutive year of the California drought, and the vines are beginning to feel the effects. The harvest this year provided a smaller yield than previous seasons, but here’s the good news- smaller yields create amazing, small batch wines. Smaller grapes are absolutely packed with flavor and color, and create some stellar wines. Beautifully dark garnet in color, this Zinfandel opens with luxurious notes of blackberry, black tea, and soft vanilla. Warm flavors of baker’s chocolate, baking spice, and cedar dance across your palate while a great texture combines fine-grained tannins and firm acidity. This Zin is bright, flavorful, lean and clean.
