Guilhem et Jean-Hugues Goisot, Bourgogne Côtes d’Auxerre Corps de Garde

The winery uses organic, and biodynamic farming from the baguette of Kimmeridgian and Portlandian limestone that stretches from Sancerre to Chablis, and Champagne.

Critic Review: The Wine Advocate  92 points – “The 2014 Bourgogne Côtes d’Auxerre Corps de Garde Blanc has a very pure bouquet with white flowers and yellow plum infusing the citrus fruit. The palate is chalky on the entry, a surprising twist of sour lemon at first, although that recedes to a lovely pithy, nectarine and gooseberry finish that leaves a spicy residue. This is just beautiful Côtes d’Auxerre Blanc….these are scintillating, tensile palates that basically stop you in your tracks.

Erste & Neue Lagrein – Erste & Neue, Südtirol Alto Adige Lagrein Larieth

Lagrein is an ancient grape variety that finds its home in the sunny vineyards of Trentino-Alto Adige in northeastern Italy. Its wines are strong and full bodied with plum and wild cherry flavors, and the variety is particularly well known for the deep, dense color it imparts on wines. Being northern-Italian, Lagrein is best paired with food.

Taste Notes:  It is enormously deep in color, dark garnet and almost black in the center. Earthy, mineral and spicy on the nose, the fruit initially lurks in the background, then develops to reveal a complex aroma of ripe black plums.

Domaine LaFage Cuvee Nicolas Vieilles Vignes (Old Vines) Cotes Catalannes Grenache Noir

Tasting Notes from the winery: Bright ruby red color. On the nose, beautiful aromatic intensity, very high concentration of red fruits (blackcurrant, raspberry, blackberry …). The mouth is rich, round, concentrated, with silky tannins offering powerful notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, raspberry, blueberries and extending on a long length in the mouth.

Kevin’s Notes:  I can’t believe I have not sold this wine in our store until now. The Domaine makes several different wines from reds, whites, and roses.  Just to give you a clear idea on how good this is; when I was a buyer for this importer in Atlanta, I would order 1200 cases, five times a year!  It will make you smile.  :/))

 Flying Horse Napa Red Blend

The Smeding family has a four generation history of working in agriculture in the Napa Valley. It all started in the 1920’s when Lettie’s Scandinavian grandparents Ivar and Saima Asplund came to the Napa Valley, purchased land, and began farming.

The Smedings planted a hillside vineyard on their Napa Valley Ranch. It has beautiful soil. Irrigation water is from their historical Peach Tree Springs that is located near their vineyard. They grow their grapes in an organic manner. Snell Valley Ranch has eagles, hawks, and owls as natural predators for the vineyard.

Kevin’s Notes:  Well here it is again, another opportunity we quickly jumped on.  The first of each year, wholesalers will review their inventory and when they find they have too much of something they will offer retailers an “inventory reduction price” and this is one of them.  Many of you took advantage of the Flying Horse Cabernet reduced price, and I strongly suggest you do the same here.  This is gorgeous full-bodied red with integrated tannins leaving you to say, “Well, hello!!! May I please have some more?”
